Evil Dead Easter Egg - Kudos to Wes Craven

Let me get this straight, you believe that the poster in Evil Dead is a thank you to Wes Craven for putting the movie Evil Dead in Nightmare on Elm St.? Does anything seem wrong with this statement to you?

Ok, here's the story people. It's actually a friendly rivalry between Craven and Raimi. Raimi put the Hill's Have Eyes poster as if to say "Hey, look, this is scarier than your movie." Craven then put Evil Dead on the television during Nightmare on Elm Street as a way of getting back. Then in Evil Dead II there's a Kruegar glove hanging in the basement as yet another shot. I can't remember if Craven fired back however after that.

If I remember right, Craven does hot back in the final Friday 13th movie. It's been a while since I've seen it, but towards the end they go into a room, and you can see the 'book of the dead' on a table. Does anyone else remember it, or have i just dreamt it?

The Necronomicon (book of the dead) is commonly used in movies. Especially Horror. There is even a movie called "The Necronomicon" based on things within the book. Its presence in the Nightmare movie has no real relevance.

Is is just me or is the sound track of Evil Dead out of sync with the footage when they show it on Nightmare on Elm st?

As much as I hate to acknowledge the existence of "Jason Goes to Hell", this bears repeating. It is true that the "Necronomicon" is used often in films as a token name for the scary book, but the book used in JgtH is actually the very same prop as is used in Evil Dead II. Same goes for the knife (with the skull on top and spine-like blade) which is ultimately used to kill Jason.

Just out of curiosity, does anyone know who owns/what became of the Necromicon prop from Evil Dead II after Jason Goes to Hell? And what of the chain-saw prop from EDII and AoD?

Hope you don't mind me asking, but what does Wes Craven have to do with Jason goes to Hell? I know that they were both released with New Line, but Jason Goes to Hell was actually directed by Noel Cunningham, 'Friday' creator Sean Cunningham's son...as far as I know, aside from the ED2 props, neither Raimi or Craven (two of my fav directors)had nothing to do with JGTH.

Ok, I had to check a couple of things.... as far as Raimi doing a "kudos" No... not at all.. Evil Dead (1983) came out before Nightmare on Elmstreet (1984)... I would think that if anything, it was a burn. I would be more inclined to believe that it had something to do with the Jaws burn

I bought Bruce's book last night, which explains this in like chapter 16. Wes had a ripped poster of "Jaws" in the background of "The Hills Have Eyes" as if to say "This is gonna be WAY scarier than yours." Sam saw that, and decided to do it back to Wes with a poster of his movie ripped in the background of ED. The clip of ED in "Scream" was Wes' knock back. According to Bruce, Sam has yet to retaliate.

Here is what I understood it as. When the movie The Hills Have Eyes was being filmed Jaws was the most popular and scary movie in circulation. The inclusion of the ripped shark poster inside the RV signified the following. No matter how scary you thought the entire movie Jaws was, it couldn't be half as scary as what was going on inside the RV at that very moment. It seems that Wes Craven liked to poke fun at Steven Speilberg since it was once again done in Wes Craven's New Nightmare. The inclusion of the Hills Have Eyes poster in Eveil Dead should then also signify that no matter how scary you thought the entire movie of Hills Have Eyes was, it couldn't be half as scary as what was going on at the moment in Evil Dead.

actually, there is a link between jason goes to hell, and nightmare on elm street, how about Jasons mask being pulled underground by freddys' claw, thus fuelling the rumours of the Freddy vs Jason movie.
