10-13 is also Chris Carter's birthday (October 13) which is where he got the name for the productions company in the first place.

I was under the impression that in addition to his birthday, 10:13 refered to the time displayed on clocks in stores. Some claimed that there was a secret conspiracy or something but the official explanation is that it's just more aesthetically pleasing---as opposed to say, both arms of the clock at 12 noon.

10:10 is the commonly used time on store displays, not because of aesthetics but because it allows you to see the brand name of the clock =)

Anyone who has even seen more than a handful of X-files shows knows that 10 13 is Carters B-day and that he always finds some way to work it into the show. Usually on a clock, but it is always there somewhere

Someone somewhere screwed it up, but the display was supposed to read 555-1013. And I have way too much time on my hands. lol

555 0113 is the number, checked on the DVD version

555 is used as the are code in all movies because its fictional. If they used a real phone number, people would want to try and call them.

if you watched closley, the last 4 digits are 0113...which if you think about it is still a play on the 1013...because it isnt the same, it draws your attention and still makes you think of 1013 if you switched the 1... its just like if they do 11:22 instead of 11:21...by that its still acknowledging hte 11:21..if that makes any sense!

I agree with the fact that the 555 prefix is used in movies for phone numbers but it is not "entirely" fictional. Dial 1-313-555-1212 and you will be asked for city and state. This is because it is the number for information in the greater Detroit area.

If you've ever seen anything like an x-file commentary or documentary you know that all the numbers carter uses are relevant to him somehow-usually a relative or friends birthday often used in the time rather that date. 555 is not a fictional # it is a national directory assistance 1-any area code-555-1212 will get you the directory assistance to the state for that area code.

The "555" prefix has been used by the movie industry for years, just so the numbers used in films wouldn't interfere with anyone's privacy. Pictures from the 40's and 50's also used "KLondike 5" ... which is just "555" with the old mnemonics.

In one episode of First Wave, the series, Cade Foster is cornered by police in an apartment. Cade calls the number 555-157 or something like that. I think its missing a number.

10:13 is a Standard Police code I.E.(Advise weather and road conditions). But I do wonder if the FBI or other govt. agencies have a Different Set of Meanings for Common radio codes????
