No, Mr. DrD. These aren't really eggs, just undocumented commands.

If you're using the Unix version of netscape, then "about:" followed by just about anything results in the response "Whachew talkin' bout Willis?" Here's to the resurrection of Gary Colman's career!

In older versions of Netscape (pre-4.5 at least, I believe), anything you put after the "about:" URL would appear as written in the Netscape window, including rendered HTML code. Kind of neat, and handy for testing short code snippets or creating quick links to do a right-click and Save As for some files. Unfortunately, in version 4.7 and above, any about command it doesn't recognize results in a "?".

Netscape has addressed the "about:" commands issue at http://help.netscape.com/kb/consumer/19970513-4.html. Netscape Navigator and Netscape Communicator recognize several "about:" URLs that aren't mentioned in the documentation. Some of these serve a useful purpose; others are just there for fun. Beyond those mentioned before ("about:", "about:global", "about:mozilla" and so forth), one can also put the name of some of the developers after "about:" to see their home page at http://people.netscape.com/: marca, nelsonb, jelwell, etc. (Not operational in Netscape6) There are other special URLs: "javascript:" brings up the JavaScript console "javascript:JavascriptCode();" executes JavascriptCode(); And for development purposes: "livescript:" and "mocha:" URLs (Latter two may not work with Netscape6).
