There's also a reference to the Guide in Keen 4. In the enemy bios on the help section, the Dopefish is identified as the second dumbest creature in the universe. Why not the dumbest? That's because the stupidest creature is the Ravenous Bugblatter Beast of Trall!

Did anybody notice that the last comment and this egg are both rather long stretches? Couldn't the intelligence of the Dopefish just be a reference to Secret of Monkey Island ("That's the second-biggest monkey head I've ever seen!") or just plain old humor? And I'll admit that the Brownian Motion Producer-Inducer link does make some sense, it is also very possibly just a coincidence.

Also, in "Commander Keen 6: Aliens Ate My Babysitter!", if you go to Bloogfoods and get the sandwich in the last room (the one with the six switches on the floor), Keen says "That's the second biggest sandwich I've ever seen!" I'd assume this is because a) not only has Keen seen a bigger sandwich, but also b)because the Ravenous Bugblatter Beast of Traal ate the largest one when someone stole it and lost it on Traal. Of course, this could also be a reference to Secret of Monkey Island...

The dopefish with out a doubt being the second dumbest creature in the known universe is a reference to the hitchhikers guide to the galaxy. The creator of the dopefish, Tom Hall was a fan of the book series, as were many other people at Apogee and ID software. More information on the dopefish (including the guide reference) can be found at www.dopefish.com

Nope, there actually is such a thing as a Brownian motion producer. Brownian motion was not invented by Douglas Adams. No connection.

The key to the Brownian Motion Generator being a reference to HH2G is given by the hot cup of tea visible in the fuse assembly. This is an obvious link to the section in HH2G Chapter 10 "The principle of generating small amounts of finite improbability by simply hooking the logic circuits of a Bambleweeny 57 Sub- Meson Brain to an atomic vector plotter suspended in a strong Brownian Motion producer (say a nice hot cup of tea) were of course well understood"

I'm pretty sure that all of the "That's the second biggest ______ I've ever seen!" lines, mostly from LucasArts games, are references to Buckaroo Banzai.
