Wow, I have been trying to figure out what the heck that screen was saying since I got the video for...I don't know, Christmas '97? I would always get there and forget or just not be fast enough to read it...and I don't have a VCR with slow motion. Thank you! a fine eye for detail have you.

The exact words are "The reason for these greenlines is to lead you to think that these words mean something" and "And now I see with eye serene the very purpose of the machine. wordsworth." The best place to see it is at 1:24:25 in chapter 40 (which is a little before Will Smith enters the room). The only time you can see it when Will Smith is in the room, is as he's walking toward the general (1:25:22). Then, for some reason, it only says "you to think that these" and "pulse of the mach-". The rest is cut off from the bottom of the screen, but there aren't any words before it.

I'm not sure if this is a real Easter Egg by definition or not, but it seemed funny and "too coincidental to be coincidental". In one of the early scenes in the high-security computer room, just as the camera moves into the room you can hear the music one of the people in the room is listening to. The song is "It's The End Of The World As We Know It" - which is completely appropriate to the movie! It's not part of the soundtrack, and is almost certainly deliberate, because the person switches it off and gets up shortly after you hear the title line of the song.
