King's Quest VII- Mask of Eternity Easter Egg - What's so Special About Ben?

In the game King's Quest 8, while you are in playing mode, if you press ctrl+shift+7, you can get something like a script for what you have done in the game so far. If you look at it often, there are many references to "Ben". A few are "Ben is so smart, S-M-R-T!" and "Mighty Ben strikes again. in the running capacity". Was
"Ben" someone who helped create the game? I don't know. If you know, PLEASE comment.

Ben was one of the programmers sons. It was about half way through the programming that he was tragically shot in a drive-by. The programmer, John Whitelaw, is apparently mourning the loss of his child, wishing that his son could be the hero of some adventure game.
