Mr. Deeds Easter Egg - To Kill a Mockingbird References
There are several To Kill A Mockingbird (Harper Lee) references in this movie:
1. When Babe is walking into the apartment after Deeds gives her the greeting card he made, she calls the woman Mrs. Finch, then Mr. Finch, then Atticus. Atticus Finch, as we know, is the father of Scout Finch in the book.
2. She tells Deeds that she fell out of Boo Radley's apple tree. Boo Radley is the mysterious town recluse, who puts assorted items in an old tree for Jem, Scout, and Dill in the book.
3. When Deeds gets back from New York, and he's in the pizzeria, he rips his cards off the wall, then walks by the guy who lied to him about being sick (don't remember his name offhand,) he says, "It's not right! It's not right." After the courtroom scene in the book, Scout, Jem, and Dill are kicked out of the court, and they go in the yard, and Dill is sobbing, and talks about how it's not right (how Atticus's case with Tom Robinson is not winning.)
