Sim City 4 Easter Egg - Tax Twenty Trick

For this egg, load any incorporated city with a "reasonable" population. Raise all the taxes to twenty, and leave them at that for a game year or two. Then, drop them all to zero. As a result, your city should do well for a while.

Sorry, but this is not an egg, it is just a way to fool the game. This is just a good tip for more money without cheating P.S. how do you describe '"reasonable" population' (1000, 10000, 100000, 1000000)?

A reasonable population is over 80,000 (average). This is not a trick to get more money, for when you drop the taxes to 0, most of the time you end up with very little left. However, your money (prior to the trick) is regained from the new development. Many of my cities have done well because of this trick. I even have a medium-landmass city that has a population of about 420,000 Sims. (Which is impressive for a medium-landmass city, which normally have an average of 170,000-250,000 Sims. This is the second-largest city in my region, which the biggest being a large-landmass city, which currently has 600,000+ Sims.

Wow, I never have built a city that big. The bigest city I ever built only had about 70,000 sims, but I am very bad at this game. Anyway, this egg sounds very risky. Couldn't it make people NOT want to move to your city and make residents move out?

Actually, the egg isn't that risky at all. Unless you leave the Tax Twenty Trick for too long. Even then, I've only had a few hundred people leave the city, compared to the several thousand that move in once the taxes are dropped to 0%!

Can you do this for a smaller city (with like 10,000 or so people)?

It's unwise doing it at 10,000 people. The city won't generate enough revenue from having the taxes at twenty. While 80,000 is reasonable, 25,000-30,000 would be the minimum.

Yeah this isnt an egg,but if you do this with a reasonable size city stuff will go into disrepair, some ppl will leave, you will get lots of money, but if you set taxes to zero you will probably lose about $10,000 a month and go broke quick

This is at best a temporary boost and I don't see anything 'easter egg' about it. The gains of zero taxes are temporary and I would challenge anyone with a city of more than 200,000 people to make this work. SC4 is all about mass transit. To pay for mass transit you need taxes. If you are tempted to try this go ahead...then read a guide about mass transit and you will find that much larger region populations are only available to those who take the time to build the infrastructure. My current region population is over 3 million people. Even at that size you will need a tight budget (aka TAXES) or your cities will go bankrupt in a few months. If you want 'easter eggs' play SC2K. SC4 is straight forward to the extreme.
