Windows 3.1 Easter Egg - Minesweeper Cheat (NOT AN EGG)

1. Enter Minesweeper, and type "xyzzy"(No quotes).
2. Press the left shift key.
3. Look at the top-left most pixel on the entire screen. To see this pixel, you have to minimize or shrink Program manager, since this changing pixel resides on the background wallpaper. When the pointer in on a mine the pixel will turn
4. This cheat is known to work under Windows 3.1 and Windows for Workgroups 3.11, but it is belived that the minesweeper under Windows 95 was changed and that this trick won't work.

To get a really fast time just find all the mines first and place the flags on top of them, then right click all the empty or numbered squares. The thing is that the timer doesn't start until the first time you right-click on a square. This gives you all the time in the world to find the mines with that "xyzzy" code!

Don't know about Win95, but in Win98 you start a new game (make the clock run) and then click with both the right and left mouse button. While holding both buttons down you click the "Esc" button on the keyboard. You have now stopped the time. It don't find the bombs for you, but it will give you time to find them. Windows NT 5.1 (Service Pack 2) Windows XP Pro (Service Pack 2) It works on these systems, But make sure the desktop has a black (or extremely dark) background. The pixel is white, and does not appear all the way in the top corner. It is offset. You may be better off lowering your resolution (For mine, I can lower it from 1600x1200 to 640x480, but my eyes are sharp enough)
