Maladroit (Weezer) Easter Egg - Reference to Internet Fans

My theory is that Rivers was feeling pretty down about how many Weezer fans on the internet message boards were not really liking The Green Album all that much, so he sprinkled references to the fact throughout Maladroit. There are a few, but the most obvious is the song "Space Rock." The lyrics read as follows:

You wanna cry when
you're dealing with the kids
They know it all,
and they're pinning you to boards

words that become much more significant if you know the true impact that Weezer's internet fan base has on the band. Maladroit was almost crafted by the fans' suggestions.

If that's not enough, the opening guitar noise at the beginning of the song sound strangely like a modem dialing up :)
