Mona Lisa, The (Leonardo da Vinci) Easter Egg - Easter Egg, or Slip-Up?

Look carefully at the Mona Lisa by Leonardo da Vinci. If you look closely enough at the background behind the Mona Lisa, then you will notice that the landscape behind her simply isn’t even. On her left hand side, there are tall spiky mountains and on her right hand side there are trees of some kind. And in-front of the trees there is a river of some kind flowing towards you. Now look at the bottom of the mountain and the trees on her left and right. Shouldn't the land be straight and not having one (the land underneath the mountains) higher than the other (the land underneath the trees)?

Read 'The Da Vinci Code' by Dan Brown. The book gives a brief explanation of the male-female background meaning of The Mona Lisa. Basically, left has always been considered as a weaker, feminine side. But Da Vinci lowered the left hand side on his painting to make Mona Lisa look bigger her right - a kind of early optical illusion.

to the persin saying "The Da Vinci Code" is a badly written book full of mistakes, both of these claims are horribly wrong. I must wonder if you have even read the book, because all of the things said with the exception of the priory and the divinity of jesus being chosen(both of these are unsure of if they happened) can be backed up. The Mona Lisa is only a famous painting and one of Da Vinci's best becuase he said so, why did he though? It is made to represent the sacred male and female, left was always associated with females so he lowered the land to make her look more graceful and raised the land on the male, or right, side to make her look not as graceful and more male, and the name also represents the male and female egyptian gods of fertility. It is for these reasons he said it was his best when it's just a normal painting in a particular style.

The Mona Lisa is an unfinished piece from Mr. Leonardo Da Vinci, you can see clearly the hands are not finished (they don't have nails), and there are some other details (like the background) that reveal us these fact. So I think it's pretty riskfull evaluate an unfinished piece...

First off, the Mona Lisa is not unfinished, the artist spent much time retouching and retouching the painting. Second of all, The Davinci Code is a work of FICTION, did no one notice it is sold in the novel section? Also, if you think it is non-fiction, begin studying the book closely and you will find that the "clues" are 99.9% proven untrue. The only truth is Jesus name is spelled correctly and Davinci was an artist.

To David. You are mistaken. according to the novel by Dan Brown the difference in elevation is not meant to show the left ahd side (the feminine side) of her to be weaker. It is meant to make Mona Lisa herself appear more "majestic" when observed from the left hand side.

this is on purpose. if you look, one side of the smile curls up while the other curls down. I think there are others but I forget. It is these things that make it original.

The Davinci Code is a good book yet the only true statements are those on the third page, i think it is, that say FACT: that is the only part of the book that is actually true events...

It's a fiction book only because the characters in it aren't real people and neither are the events, he wrote it like that so more people would read it, because non-fiction is boring.

In my own little world the land is perfectly flat and everything is the same and has to be the same on either side of a painting to keep the gnomes from getting lost and confused. And my world is flat so I can only go around and around unless I put on my spidy suit then I can be upside down.

Da Vinci actually used the uneven back round to create an illusion of depth, it has no meaning to it any classically trained artist can tell you that.
