King also wrote Rage under the pen name Richard Bachman. Thinner was the final book that King wrote as Bachman, and therefore the one that everyone figured out it was him. I've heard recently that he intended to release Misery as a Bachman book before he was caught. This was his attempt to make Richard Bachman a "household name." He felt that his previous success as Stephen King could have been a fluke and by becoming popular again, would prove to himself that he was, in fact, a good writer.

Peter Straub is a separate author; although, they did write The Talisman together. The Regulators was also written under the name Richard Bachman.

The idea for 'The Dark Half' came when Steven King quit using the pen name Richard Bachman. They had a 'funeral' for Richard and everything. Same as the author (name escapes me) in 'The Dark Half' Then he considered what might happen if that pen name came back, so to speak.

Look at the beginning of the Regulators theres is a big long preface by King explaining why he brought Bachman back from the dead and he makes several references to the Dark Half, he said that he wanted to get out his conflicting reasons, I'm disgusted with any "King fan" who didn't know he was Bachman

About thinner. there was a write up on it by a book reviewer when it first came out. i cat remeber who they guy was or who he worked for but, he said in the review. that Thinner is the kind of book Stephen king would write if he was a good author. a short time later SK revealed he was backman.

It says at the beginning of the Bachman book that RB's wife found the book in the attic and asked SK to complete and publish it as RB wanted. Also can't quite remember but there may have been something about more to come from RB/SK

The running man by richard Bachman. Better than the film by arnie eh? No comparison . Remake the film I say. With out arnie. I reckon an unknown should play the lead. Make it more exciting for thoses who don't know the story. We all know that big stars rarely die at the end.

peter wilson you may be wrong about your comment on thinner i think the phrase "its like a stephen king novel" is used in the dead zone.can you reference?

Richard Bachman not only uses the pen name (Stephen King) he also goes by John Swithen.
