Half-Life Easter Egg - References to All the People Who Made Half-Life

Actually if you listen to the P.A. system it also says several names of developers....and if you wait long enough it says, "Gordon Freeman, please report to Anomalous Materials Laboratory." Pretty cool I think.

if you open the pak file somehow, you can listen to all of the words that the PA system says. it says stuff like "whiskey" "zulu" "usa" "pal" and many other weird words that you wouldnt think that it would say.

I think the 'odd words' were intended for military communications when the PA system is taken over by the military. I'd have to check this, though.

the HL sound system allows a character to say words in a sentence. the mapper can make a sentence for his level by making them up with these basic words

Yeah; The Marines use them to radio-talk at various points about "sectors" and such. "Whiskey" and "Zulu" are part of the US military's "phonetic alphabet". Many English letter names sound alike; you'll often hear people saying "B as in boy", "D as in dog", etc. The military and some police forces use the phonetic alphabet to spell words and designate anything involving letters unambiguously. Phonetic alphabets are probably modified pretty frequently, but here is one I got off a GTA page that's at least close to the official one. alpha bravo charlie delta echo foxtrot golf hotel india juliet kilo lima mike november oscar papa quebec romeo sierra tango uniform vector whiskey x-ray yankee zulu

the word for "v" is victor, not vector, these also happen to be NATO names for various classes of USSR submarines

The Gordon Freeman that the PA is calling is actually the name of your character, NOT the name of a developer, as the first post states. The PA asks you to go to Anomalous Materials so you can advance in the game, nice to know you were paying attention ;)

The Alpha, Bravo, Charley, phonetic SPELLING convention has been in use almost since the birth of radio communications. It is a tool used to clarify letter sounds broadcast by radio transmission and pre-dates all known Russian submarines .... LOL.

THE official phonetic alphabet (used for spelling words over a radio, most commonly seen in the military, although airports use it also) is Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, Delta, Echo, Foxtrot, Golf, Hotel, India, Juliet, Kilo, Lima, Mike, November, Oscar, Papa, Quebec, Romeo, Sierra (also name of company that makes hl lol), Tango, Uniform, Victor, Whiskey, X-Ray, Yankee, Zulu (you may also hear about Zulu time, it is GMT time, on a 24 hr clock) I know these things because I am kinda in the military (Civil Air Patrol)
