Reise, Reise (Rammstein) Easter Egg - Hidden Noise

If it is the noise I am thinking of(as I haven't gotten my hands on the CD yet) it is supposed to be the sounds that a black box recorded as a plane went down with the pilot screaming and the autopilot saying "Pull up" over and over again. Flugrekorder means 'flight recorder' roughly, hence a black box and the airplane crashing noises. That is my take at least...the sound can also be heard on their website I do believe.

Actually, the noise is taken from the flight recorder from a Birgenair-Boeing 757, which 6th February 1996 crashed into the sea outside the Dominican Republic. The plane was supposed to be a 767 from the local charter company Alas, but due to the low amount of travelers, Birgenair's 757 was chosen. The plane set off from the airport in the city of Puerto Plata, a city located north in the country, and was headed for Frankfurt and Berlin, Germany, and it reached a height of 7000 feet before something went wrong (apparently something with the speedometer), and the plane crashed into the sea. All the 189 passengers died, those who survived the crash were eaten by sharks.

This is sort of out there, but on both my portable CD player I don't have to rewind to hear the "Flugrekorder." The CD player is a Panasonic.

Scratch my earlier comment. The reason why I didn't have to rewind to hear the Black Box recording is because I have the North American version of the Album.

In the U.S. version of Reise, Reise, the hidden track is included as part of the first track. No rewinding necessary. If you are unsure wheter your version has it hidden or not, listen. If it starts with a beeping noise, you are listening to the Japan Airlines 123 crash (which is most definately the same crash). If it starts with a drum solo, you are listening to Reise, Reise and need to rewind.

Why is the Japanese version so different. Perhaps to avoid offending the Japanese, as the black-box recording was from a Japanese flight (which is not included at all). Most likely though, it was to give the Japanese a reason to buy it! Domestic releases in Japan are actually more expensive than imports due to government taxes, so many bands need to offer extras for the people to choose the domestic release over the import. Otherwise the band would possibly not even chart in Japan.
