Die Another Day Easter Egg - Where the Name "James Bond' Comes From

In the scene where James Bond has just arrived in the Caribbean, he has some binoculars and a book about birds. The name of the book is "Birds Of The West Indies" and the author is James Bond. Ian Fleming (creator of James Bond) took the name of the author for his hero because the name was dull and anonymous.

The real James Bond was an ornithologist, so that's (more than) probably why the character Bond poses as an ornithologist. Apparently Fleming was writing the first Bond book, and he couldn't think of a name for his hero. He glanced up for a second and saw the book "Birds of the West Indies" on his bookshelf, written by guess who!? After Fleming's success, he and the real Bond became good friends. According to Fleming, the name "James Bond" sounded just right. ---KMeTG
