Friends Easter Egg - Arquette

On the first episode of season 6, every name is followed by the word Arquette. This is because David and Courtney were married that summer, and she changed her name to "Courtney Cox Arquette"

Relax already!!! I am a "Friends" fan but I am not an T.V. / eggs geek who scours every second of every show to find all the hidden stuff they contain. It was interesting to hear about the play on names and I'm sure any casual fan of the show would think the same

Plus, I highly doubt it was to "make fun of" her; more along the lines of congratulations.

I think it was actually to say congrats. there was a little message after the epidsode- 'to david and courteney, who really did get married'. And it was on the season five premiere.

It's NOT to make fun of her...she was having trouble deciding whether to add Arquette to her name when she got married and they all added it to THEIR name to show that they supported her...my mom saw an interview with her.

THAT'S NOT AN EGG! AND it wasn't on the halloween episode! David Arquette and Courtney Cox got married a few weeks before the premeire of the new season so they decided it would be funny if they put the name "arquette" after all the names, because that's how Courtney decided to have her name! It's VERY obvious. It's not an egg. PS. Friends doesn't even HAVE halloween episodes! (not spoofy ones i mean) Sure they mention it if that's when the time of year it's supposed to be, but it's not like they have ones where they're being haunted by ghosts or anything! do your friends research!

Well, I agree with some of the others that it's not much of an egg, but I loved seeing it on that season premier. I called my mom and dad into the room and was laughing my butt off. But little things like that amuse me. I couldn't find any of my friends who had seen it or at least who remembered it. I remember the Roseann one that someone mentioned, too! I had forgotten about it till now.

I have the script in front of me and it says: In case you haven't heard, Courteney Cox got married to David Arquette during hiatus and changed her name to Courteney Cox Arquette. But David was a busy boy during the off season for not only did he marry her but everyone else all well. For they've all listed as Jennifer Aniston Arquette, Lisa Kudrow Arquette, in a interesting twist Matt Le Blanc Arquette, Matthew Perry Arquette, David Schwimmer Arquette, and even the creaters of the show are now David Crane Arquette and Martha Kauffman Arquette. I just wonder what the new sleeping arrangements are... . This was done as a congrats and good luck for Courteney and possibly a slight joke since they had the male actors names had changed as well.

i kinda go with the people on congratulations. But its also to tell everyone that Courtney got married to David not too long before. And it was the beginning of the season so they thought, what the heck. So it is NOT an egg!!!

That was definately not to make fun of Courteney. They put Arquette after everyone's last name because that was when she began to use Cox Arquette as her last name instead of just Cox. After the show when Chandler and Monica decide not to get married it even says: To Courteney and David, who did get married.

Look, I don't think that is really an egg. Everyone that has seen that episode have noticed that, also there isn't a special Halloween episode on Friends, they may show one on halloween day but it ISN'T a halloween special! Please try and find a better egg. You are waisting your time! (",)

Okay...how is any of this relevant to, well, anything? I'm a huge "Friends" fan (many people claim it's an obsession), but this ridiculous debate on whether or not "it was a joke" is pathetic. What does it really matter? Anyone who breathes knows that Courteney Cox and David Arquette got married and that was the obvious reason that Arquette was added to the rest of the casts' last names. Perhaps if they put "Silverman" or "Winston" or some other random last name, then it would maybe qualify as an egg and we could have a heated discussion about why it was there. As for this, you're all just looking for a reason to obsess...it's really no big deal. Find a better one.

This whole thing about the name Arquette is really stupid and if you have wasted your time argueing about it, you are an idiot and have no life. Friends is the best show in the universe so why don't you twits spend your time watching it instead of talking about some name.

To the people that are saying this was not the Halloween episode in response so what someone said before, that person was talking about the Halloween episode of THE SIMPSON'S! Not friends! Please read properly before you comment!

Hey they did something on Roseanne in reverse one year. When Roseanne dropped her last name all the last names were dropped off the everyone's name in the opening credits. And hey did you notice that the Halloween episodes of the Simpsons always play with the names by making them really scary sounding. My head hurts from these highly tuned observational skills that I have developed.... DDDUUUHH! I hate the obvious don't you?
