Jackson, Peter Easter Egg - "Minor" Cameo

Peter Jackson makes cameo appearances (ala Hitchcock) in his movies--plenty are already covered.
Did you know he also sneaks in his car? A Morris Minor (British), And, yes- it IS in Lord of the Rings!
Frodo and Sam are at the scene where Sam says: "If I take one more step, it will be the farthest away from home I've ever been", the next scene is a distance shot. Look in the upper right corner...there is chimney smoke...then something moving along the road making a dust trail. You even can catch a windsheild reflection.

This is probably not correct. In the recently released DVD they went to a lot of trouble to remove this flaw. It was obviously accidental. If it had been there on purpose they would have left it there.

Actually, in the films he has made quite a few cameos. He's also the first guy to throw a rock of the wall in the beginnings of the Helm's Deep battle. Also, some of the kids that appear in the films, in the Shire and at Helm's Deep, are his and other members of the cast's children. Try www.moviemistakes.co.uk, head to LotR and find the trivia section. The car is debatable.

If you listen to Peter Jackson's commentary on the extended FOTR DVD, he says he has never been able to see the car that is supposed to be in this scene; unless he is playing innocent I think we should take his word for it on this issue.

Ok this may or maynot be a real picture... you can check it out on the DVD to be sure, but I found this picture on theonering.net and it shows a picture of Gollum's hand as he is looking down a cliff and you can see Pete's picture etched into a stone! Its neat but you have to have an imagination to see it. They have the 'original' picture and one with the 'cameo' circled for you~ just in case you can't see it. In Bree, PJ is the one eating a carrot. He shows up again in ROTK on the corsairs' ship. It's easier to see him here if you have the EE. He's the pirate that Legolas shoots.
