listen carefully.. the Droid doesnt say that at all.. it is something more close to "code 1 3"

I could be wrong but is the 1138 in the sand where Padme roles after she falls out of the Republic Gunship?

It does not sound like he is saying "1138," even in a droid voice. I just got the sound file, and even forwords, It says, "Use the force, Idiot!" If it's too fast for you to understand, slow it down. The web site is listed in one of the other comments. I mean, it's not that hard to hear!

I thought this, the second time I saw 'AOTC', the marks left in the sand from Padme rolling down the dune, after she has fallen from the clone gunship. The third time I saw 'Clones' I still couldn't make up my mind about it (did it just say 'THX' or was '1138' also added?) and subsequently didn't post it as a possible eegg, shame that, I'd have had three up then!

I believe the droid is saying, "use the force field." Reversing it and slowing it down may help you come to the same conclusion. Just find the file after you've downloaded it and drag it into your sound recorder. Maybe everything the robots say is reversed into english. Just another of Lucas' little language quirks. sreehC. *Mike*

I just downloaded it. And it does, in fact, sound as if he is saying, "Use the force idiot!" But, I can only hear it when played backwards, I still can't hear it when it is played fowards.

I played the droid sound in reverse and also found that it says something like, "Use the force, idiot." I even slowed it down and it still sounded a lot like that. On the other hand, when played normally (as in, not reversed), it sounds more like 3-4-1-C (especially when slowed down). I have no idea what this could mean. Perhaps someone else could share their insights? (Keep in mind however, that some sounds played in reversed CAN sound like just about anything. Just think of Neil Armstrong's famous quote; in reverse it sounds just very much like, "I've never been there, no. Never space walk(ed), no ship." [My interpretaions - there are variations.])

If you look at the official "THX" logo with the two horizontal lines you can visually see a "1138" in it. So if you see a version hidden it's likely it could look like either.

George Lucas has confirmed that the refernce to THX-1138 is actually on the clone troopers' helmets. There are small LED lights that show a serial number. The number is (ta daa) THX 1138.
