Back to the Future Easter Egg - Time Travel to the past changes the future...

Throughout the movie, you will notice several references to things in the past while in the present, and how they changed by events which occured while Marty stumbled throughout 1955.

The most obvious was the bell tower, but some of the more not-so-obvious ones include the reference to Twin Pines Mall (in the original 1985) When Marty goes to 1955, as he peels out of Peabody's farm (the crazy old farmer who had a dream of growing a pine tree farm) he runs over one of the two pine trees planted by Peabody. Peabody yells out something like "My Pine Tree!!!" as Marty drives away. When Marty goes back to 1985, the mall is now called Lone Pine Mall.


There are tons of these little changes that you will notice throughout the series.

Tons of these have been addressed at the back to the future website! Check it out at: http://www.bttf.com and on the dropdown menu, select part IV! There is a list of things there. One thing that they mentioned (which I have e-mailed them about to update it) is that it says that no-one knows what happened to the JVC camera from Part 1. If you look at the "Blast From The Past" window (BTTF Part 2) then, to the right of the 1985 jacket that Marty left in 1955, if you look close enough, you will see the camera!!!

I also noticed the shopping mall name change after Marty came "back to the future." By the way, the real name of that place is Puente Hills Mall located in City of Industry, Calif. (about 25 miles east of LA). I grew up down the street from that area. Joe

My dad & I used to sit around and watch BTTF over and over again just to find stuff like this. As for your bell tower ref, I'm not sure what you were talking about, but what was cool was that in the original 1985, the ledge in front of the clock was not broken, but after Doc breaking it in 1955, when you see the shot of it in the new 1985, it is broken.

To the contrary, these features did not have to be included in the film and they do not affect the story line. They are still eggs - just eggs that retain their viability while spanning 30 years of time travel!

These *are* eggs because you have to look very hard to find them. However, if you count the Huey Lewis, that's an actual person being an egg but, subtle things such as the LONE PINE MALL can be an egg as well. Well, there you have it, straight from the horse's mouth. What pull down menu?! The site's been redone!

good eye about the lone pine thing. Remember in bttf 3? Clayton ravine was named after the leading lady when she "fell in to the ravine" (saved during the movie) At the end, when marty is back in 1985, it is eastwood ravine!

Two things. First, the drunk hobo that Marty bumps into throughout the first two films is Red. As in Mayor Red "Progress is his Middle Name" Thomas, from 1955. Second: Jones Manure company is in all three movies, I just recently realized the manure mad dog Tannen falls in at the end of part three says Jones on the side. No one has mentioned these, just thought I'd put them out there.

In BTTF when Marty goes to the school in 1955, he sees the principal and says something along the lines of 'Jesus didn't he ever have hair?'. Ironically, in BTTF III, the same guy plays the sheriff in the old west, and yes he did have hair!

I also noticed some continuity things in the trilogy that make it great, for instance, the shop Statler Toyota or Statler Ford or something, is in 1985, 1955, 188s (selling horses instead), and the car for sale is by Statler in 2015.

This scene recalls the moment when Sam Baines hits Marty with his car and yells for his wife As Marty gets up from the bed, he checks that he has his pants on. This scene recalls the moment when Marty checks his underpants in Lorraine's room in 1955 In front of the Clocktower (sans clock at this time), there are two things of note. One, a flagpole that lasts until at least 1955 (but isn't there in 2015!). And, two, a tree that remains standing through 1955, 1985 and 2015. And, before you ask, "is it possible for an Elm tree to live for 130 years or more?" The answer is yes. The Bartender and the three Saloon Old Timers (as they were credited) were cast specifically because they are veteran actors who appeared in Hollywood westerns. As Marty and Doc look at the railway map at the station, Clara can clearly be seen standing in the background waiting to be picked up. The clock for the clocktower is also waiting there. Interesting that the first time (in chronological order) we see the clock from the tower it is 10:04 AM, when later it will get stuck at 10:04 PM - where it will be in 2015, the last time we see it - chronologically. for more eegs found int he chronological order of the films i strongly urge you to view http://www.bttf.com/futurefeatures/C1885.html - at the bottom are the links to 1885,1955,1985 and 2015. enjoy :)

Also,throughout the movie,Marty is wearing white Reboks. However,during the scene where he is on a skateboard being chased by Biff and his friends,he is wearing Converses.
