Young Frankenstein Easter Egg - Clock Strikes Thirteen!

In beginning of film after clock chimes thirteen times; the Frankenstein coffin is opened. A pair of hands attempt to pry the Frankenstein notebook from the corpse of the original Doctor Frankenstein. Eventually the book is pulled from the corpse that won't relent, by the short chubby fingers of Mel Brooks the director.

Thanks! I never knew that. I love Mel Brooks' stuff, especially Young Frankenstien. Mel Brooks also provided the cat hiss in the scene where Dr. F. is playing darts with the fake-hand dude. He also howled (portraying a werewolf) when Igor is driving the doctor to the castle. ("Werewolf." "There wolf. There castle.")

Gene Hackman also makes a cameo in the film...almost no one recognized him, he plays the old blind man whom the monster shared some soup, wine and a (Tee hee) cigar.

i always wondered why Mel Brooks didnt do a cameo in Young Frankenstein. He, in fact, did! im so excited to know that. im a dork, but of the mel brooks kind.
