Windows 98 Easter Egg - Reference to Wassily Kandinsky in Setup

In the actual Windows 98 setup files, there is a file called "DOSSETUP.BIN". If you look at the contents of this file with Notepad, Wordpad, DOS's EDIT, or any other text editor, you will find the following phrase near the end of the file:

Wassily Kandinsky was the great Russian painter who participated in the Expressionist movement in Germany, taught at the Bauhaus, and edited the Blue Rider Almanac.

(?!?!?!?!?!) My personal opinion about this is entirely expressed, in the same file, some lines below that phrase:

hahahahahahaha

Hey, I found it. Very cool, how in the world did you find this? peacemonkey, do a search for the file, open with word. You can then go under edit and find and type his name in.

The DOSSETUP.BIN file is located on the \Win98 directory of the Windows 98 CD-ROM. If you do as I did and copied the CD-ROM to the hard drive (the WHOLE CD-ROM, not just the .CAB files) it will be in the directory that you put the CD-ROM into, in a subdirectory named Win98. For example, I copied my Windows 98 CD-ROM in a folder called C:\Win98, so my DOSSETUP.BIN file is in C:\Win98\Win98.

That's cool! I usually thought about easter eggs being in files where you can only see them as messages in Hex Editors or in Notepad. I think they're great, like in the IRC easter egg section, there are a few.

For those of you who can't find it just open the file and hit Ctrl+f and it will bring up the find text menu type in .Russian. without the periods and BADABAM...there you have it......this egg was a useless thing some dorky programmer put in there because that line of text before it needed alot of spaces and mumbojumbo inbetween the next line of code so i suppose that crackhead just popped that in there
