Quills Easter Egg - Venus in Furs
In the movie Quills, about the famous erotist Marquis de Sade from whom we get the word sadism, there is a painting on the wall of his cell. The painting is of a naked woman in furs. In the 1800s, Leopold von Sacher-Masoch wrote a book called "Venus in Furs." From Sacher-Masoch, we get the word masochism. This book, however, was written more than 50 years after Sade died. The director is giving a nod with this painting to what we call 'sadomasochism.'
