Rocky Horror Picture Show, The Easter Egg - Title Song References

Since the song is about old sci-fi movies, I'm not sure that this would be an Easter Egg. If you take away the referrences, there's almost nothing left of the song besides, "oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh".

Well, it's something about the movie that many people may not know... but maybe you're right :-)

How can this be an easter egg? Isn't an egg supposed to be something that isn't immediately obvious? If you didn't notice that, then you weren't actually watching the film, were you?

It may be immediately obvious to any sci fi fan, but that doesn't mean that it's immediately obvious to everyone, I think this qualifies as an easter egg.

Well, maybe not so much an egg as a cute little tidbit, or something to that effect. How's that? :o)

Lily St. Cyr was a fashion model who sold her own line of lingerie during the Golden Age of Hollywood.

Where's the line referring to "Night of the Demons"? I can't hear it, or do I have a wrong "version" of RHPS? (it's the english version, actually...)

The "Night of the Demons" reference- "Dana Andrews said prunes gave him the runes"- Dana Andrews starred in the movie and runes played a part of the plot.

This is *so* not an Easter Egg! The song is called "Science Fiction Double Feature" and refers to the old (50's/60's) thing of going to double-feature (that means two in a row) films at the cinema or drive-in. And hence it mentions lots of sci-fi films.

OK, people, all those films that are mentioned in the opening song were produced by the RKO studio, that is no longer in use. If you look at the end of the movie the radio tower says RKO. Hence the references in the song.

actually the RKO tower was only used as a back up because the head of fox would not allow the 20th Century Fox logo (displayed at beginning of film) to be used with Magenta and Columbia pulling bits of plywood like the searchlights. but Science Fiction/Double Feature was written by Richard O'Brien for a charity function, and therefore not connected at all with the RKO tower. The RKO tower was climbed by Rocky, carrying Fank at the end of the film, which is a direct relation to King Kong carrying Fay Wray in the RKO film!

My comment is simply this the reason all those were in the song was they were just some b-rated sci-fi flicks Hence the name SCIENCE FICTION DOUBLE FEATURE

The Twentieth Century Fox logo was supposed to be used instead of the RKO tower, but Science Fiction/Double Feature was written for the stage show, as were all the songs in the movie (and one or two not in the movie), not a charity function.

This could be wrong, but I learned this from a very huge fan of RHPS..The title song was actually written on a dare...someone dared Richard O'Brien that he couldn't write a good song that had so many sci-fi movie titles. Someone help me on this? My source had a huge book with all audience shouts and script, and he says this tid bit was in it...

I believe this would only be an egg to a person that is either a "Rocy Virgin" and/or a person that only watches RHPS in October and never a month before and that's only if they never did any research on the music in the film or the film it's self. Any normal Rocky fan would laugh at this.
