X-Men Easter Egg - Hidden X' and O's
Of course you will see a lot of X's in the movie on doors and floors around the X-men's hideout (because it is the X-men movie!), but director Bryan Singer admits in an article (which you can read at http://marvel.com/x-men/showbiz_072800.html#) that he placed X's in the movie wherever he could – and they are often hard to find.
An example he mentioned was, "I once grabbed a big piece of debris that was lying outside the train station that looked like an X and put it so it would be lit as Magneto marched to the helicopter." Another example that was mentioned here by another ‘eegg’ aficionado was that one of the panels in the cage where Wolverine was fighting was made of little 'X' holes – not all of the panels, just the one where he is standing. And another that my friend found was a bright, X shaped form on the bar behind Rogue while she and Logan were talking during their first meeting.
In the same article, Singer states that his production designer began bringing in O's, Magneto's symbol, wherever he could to counter all the X's. Some, like some of the X's, are very prominent and easy to see like Magneto’s Mutant producing machine, but some are very subtle and hard to catch, like the ones Singer says are on Wolverine's bedspread while he is sleeping.
I think it is almost like a big game of Tic-Tac-Toe and I wonder exactly what the original creators of the X-men were thinking when they made the symbol of Magneto, the X-men’s main antagonist, an ‘O’.
