Dogma Easter Egg - Bryan Johnson

The part where the Apostle (Chris Rock) is proving he knows everything about Bethanny (Linda Fiorentino.) He mentions that a guy named Bryan Johnson urinated on her head. Bryan Johnson is an actor that played in many of Kevin Smith's movies. He was a pro-life protestor in Dogma. He was the comic store guy in Mallrats (Steve-Dave.) He played Steve-Dave again in a deleted scene from Chasing Amy. He also wrote, directed. and starred in the movie Vulgar. A movie which stars Kevin Smith (director and writer of Dogma, Mallrats, Clerks, and Chasing Amy), Scott Mosier (Wiliam the Idiot Manchild in Clerks, Roddy in Mallrats, the Collector guy in Chasing Amy, and the airport kissing guy in Dogma), Brian O'Halloran (the Hicks siblings in Clerks, Mallrats, and Dogma and an Exec in Chasing Amy), Scott Schiaffo (Chewlie's Rep in Clerks), and Ethan Suplee (William in Mallrats, a fan in Chasing Amy, and the voice of the Golgothan in Dogma). What a nice way to include one of Kevin Smith's friends!

I made a mistake, Scott Mosier is the bus kissing guy in Dogma. Also, the three Hicks guys are cousins, not brothers.

Although I do not discredit your comment, I feel that I must add a wrinkle. Brian Johnson was also Anthony Michael Hall's character name in The Breakfast Club, a John Hughes film. Any Kevin Smith fan knows there are MULTIPLE references to John Hughes in Dogma. Could this be another nod to a pioneer of cheesy, but entertaining 80's flicks? You make the call.....

Just go to www.viewaskew.com and visit the eJay Auction section. One of the models is Brian "Steve-Dave" Johnson.

I just have to say one thing, it's Willam (not sure how to spell it), not William.

I wanted to add that the black guy from "Chasing Amy", author of White Hatin Koon, was also in Dogma as the gang leader in the strip club. His scene was cut bigtime for reasons I don't know. In the original script the gang gets into a fight with Jay and S-Bob because the stripper was his girlfriend. This would have been a great scene because Jay and S-Bob do an imitation of "Fat Albert that makes the gang members laugh and they then get along. Serendipity was responsible for the "Fat Albert" scene.

I have to point out something. Even though you sound like you know a lot, you a wrong in multiple areas. First of all, Bryan Johnson is NOT starring in Vulgar, he simply makes an appearance. That is coming out in January. Also, Andre and Dante Hicks are NOT brothers, Andre is Dante s evil cousin, as any true fan would know. I asked this same question on the View Askew WWW Board and it got answered by Kevin himself. Thank you and good-night.

There's a few variations to how you spell the name of Ethan Stuplee's and Scott Mosier's 'Willam' character...for one, I have seen Willam been written as 'Wilhelm' or 'Willem' (not sure which way its spelt, but I do remember seeing it spelt with a 'h')...like I think it's the more traditional way of, errr, pronouncing it? I think that's how you spell it - plus in 'Mallrats', if you check the credits, they spell it like that! Being a tad pedantic, I know, but aren't most of you like that when it comes to eggs?
