Fight Club Easter Egg - Hidden Promotional Menu

On disc 2 of Fight Club, go to the advertising section. Go down to the bottom left side of the page, and a little happy face should appear. Press "play" on your remote, and you can flick through a little catalogue of "real" merchandise to order. It's still all fake, kids.

Actually it is real merchendise (At least the tee shirt is). It's just next to impossible to find. I suggest going on to an online austion, and if you're really lucky, you'll find something.

Here's one that isn't quite an egg: Insert DVD #1, you'll see the standard FBI warning, then another warning screen, then another. The third screen goes by pretty quick. Read the small print on that third screen, because it's actually a "Live your life" rant by Tyler Durden. Just another nice detail in this superior DVD set!

This movie is awesome. Oh, and they tell you the flashes of Tyler in the Brad Pitt/Ed Norton/Special FX/Marla Commentary...

TO BRYAN: Actually there are 4 subliminal images of Tyler Durden(Brad Pitt) in the beginning of the film: the Xerox scene (00:03:57), the doctor scene (00:06:04), the testicular cancer scene support group scene (LOLOLOL!!) (00:07:15) and the Marla walking out scene (00:12:04). Each second of a movie is made of 24 frames of film. For a human to see the subliminal images, these have to be made of at least 4 frames. You cannot see a 1 frame subliminal image. This type (1 frame) of use of subliminal images was forbidden because of its use in publicity and horror movies (e.g. "The Exorcist"). We couldn't see it, but the mind registered it, causing the effect desired.

This is on the region 2 DVD, it's just not hidden. It's under 'press kit' in the promotion section. It also makes up the fight club web site.

Tyler actually appears 6 times, though one of them doesn't seem to be on some versions: 1. Photocopier, to the left. 2. Hospital Corridor "Now that's pain..." 3. Support Group, "Really share yourself with someone", around the leaders shoulders. 4. (Sometimes) there is a pan over the seats in the Chloe speech where Tyler is sat in one of the seats for a single frame... This seems to be cut in most versions though. 5. Marla is walking through an archway outside a support group. 6. Tyler is one of the waiters saying "Welcome!" on the hotel video (on the right)

How come people still think that the dinky at the end of the movie is an unsee-able Easter egg, that must be pointed out? That frame IS quite obvious, and you don't need the DVD version to see it (although it IS so much nicer to own the DVD version). It's simple to spot, and it's barely an Easter egg. The focus goes off, and there's even a large discoloration a few seconds prior to the tainted changeover. DUH!

Subliminal images in movies don't actually work as this movie suggests. This entire debate began when a theater owner used images of drinks and popcorn during a film. He reported increases in refreshment sales as a result. Upon further examination, a congressional panel found his claims were entirely false. The bottom line is: if you don't consciencely see a subliminal image, it doesn't affect you. I think people WANT to believe the novel idea of subliminal images instead of relying on well-based scientific research. Sorry to shatter anybody's excitement.

Are we talking about the so-called "subliminal" frames in the movie? because if we are then i only noticed 2, one of Tyler in the testicular cancer support group scene and the one at the end of the film, and they are VERY visible. i noticed them instanly on my crappy old vcr so they must be well over 1 frame long. I could even pause the video quite easely to see the what it was at the end of the film (LOL!) so calling them subliminal is a little exadurated. Oh yeah, and Fight Club is the greatest film ever made.
