In this scene there is also a 'top-ten' listing with funny fictional names in them. One of them is 'Heaven Seventeen', which was adobted by a british band in the late seventees.

On the back wall of the milk bar are written several words ( in large white letters). One of these is MOLOKO - this has also been used recently for the name of a band. ("Sing it back" is the best known track from then, late 1999)

With perverted joy, Stanley Kubrick added Boris the snake to the cast of Clockwork Orange. In early interviews with SK, Malcom Mc Dowell had let slip that he had a genuine dread of reptiles. Our little malchick fondles his pet snake whenever he is alone in his bedroom. --oh that SK!!

About the MOLOKO thing, well MOLOKO is one of many Russian words used in the film, meaning milk, quite obviously.

That's correct, in Russian word "Moloko" means "Milk" :)

Actually, NADSAT is in fact a pseudo-language, one which consists of words from existing languages i.e moloko and devochka-Russian for milk and woman respectively. In the foreword of the book (this isn't made clear in the film), Anthony Burgess, or some other notable literary reviewer/writer/hanger-on who wants to associate themselves with the book/film, does mention this.

About MOLOKO (which is a band i like so much). The MOLOKO PLUS mentioned in the movie, is a real drink from the seventies-eighties, popular in England & France : it's milk with LSD.

Either in the book itself or the after word they mention that the Russians are subliminally bombarding England. That is why the teenagers use slang that is derived from Russian words.

Actually, the name of Alex's snake is Basil...heard when Alex asks, 'What about Basil...where's my snake?' to his Dada. So it's not a nod to the old Commies....rather a cute name for a snakey.

Since several people have posted regarding the language used in the movie, let me add that "nadsat" is exactly the Russian equivalent of the English "-teen," as in thirteen, fourteen, etc. Thus, a teenage slang. Tim
