And the actor who voices Rossum in this episode also played the man who designed the Replicants in Blade Runner.

'RUR' was taken from Czeck writer Karl Capek's play of the same name (written 1920; premiered 1921, Prague). It was actually Josef Capek, Karl's brother, who coined the term from the Czeck word 'robota', meaning 'drudgery' or 'servitude'. It's interesting to note that Capek's 'Robots' were closer to genetically-engineered life than what we currently consider a 'robot'. Nevertheless, I got a good chuckle out of it the first time I saw this episode. :-) A similar egg can be found in an episode of the original Star Trek series ('Requiem for Methuselah'), in which there is a character named 'Rayna Kapec'.
