Your entry is not a reference to "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" -- but there is such a reference. The little aliens who were in the coffee room defected (after the warning that the Earth was going to be destroyed), dragging cartons of cigarettes and singing a song to the tune of "The Star-Spangled Banner." This would appear to BE "The Star-Spangled Banner" in their native language, but if you listen carefully (and have seen the BBC miniseries of "Hitchhiker"), you will see that the lyrics perfectly match "The Betelgeuse Death Anthem" sung by Ford Prefect and Zaphod Beeblebrox (also to the tune of "The Star-Spangled Banner") in the miniseries. Ford referred to this as translating to, "After this, things can only get better," which would certainly make it an appropriate choice of music for the little guys' farewell theme.
