Cat's Eye Easter Egg - Obscure Gold Watch Joke

I am pretty sure the TV Movie that Robert Hayes was in was called "The Girl, the Gold Watch and the Dynamite" Very cheesey movie.. but loved it as a kid

"Cat's Eye" also has three other "eggs." The first being in the beginning credits, Cujo is chasing the cat! The second is also in the begining credits, Christine almost hits the cat! The third in when the parents of Drew Barrymore are in be the wife is reading "Misery." All the stories in "Cat's Eye" are based on short stories by Stephen King, published in "Night Shift"

I know, but they wouldn't let me list those as eggs... :(

Actually, just as a note the third story in Cat's Eye was not based on a short story that appeared in Cat's Eye, but was an original screenplay written by King specifically for the movie. To the best of my knowledge, it has never appeared in print anywhere, much else in Night Shift.

By the way, when the parents are in bed the wife is reading Pet Semetary not Misery. Easily picked out as a plug.

also, the guy in the first part of the movie is watching TV and the movie he is watching is "The Dead Zone" another Steven king movie.

Someone once told me that the little green troll thingy that was trying to still the little girl's breath was somehow related to the cave in the first Dark Tower book "Gunslinger". I read that book like three times and could not find any relation. Am I missing something?

The reference may also be Stephen King's way of honoring one of his favorite authors, John D. MacDonald. King has referenced MacDonald's, Lovecraft's, and others' work throughout his writing career. One such example of his references to MacDonald is in the short story, "The Body," which became the film, "Stand By Me." There are countless other examples. This is in reference to MacDonald's book, "The Girl, the Gold Watch & Everything" and, coincidently, the movie by the same name starring Robert Hays.
