There's Something About Mary Easter Egg - Steve Young

One of the minor characters in this movie was a football player. Originally Steve Young was asked to play this part but he turned it down because he didn't approve of some scenes.
He got a mention anyway. In one scene, the main character is describing another character's looks and commented that he's "no Steve Young".

by the way...the football star is Bret Favre, who is the former boyfriend of Mary in the movie. Even though Mary is a San Francisco fan.

Hey Someone, read before you judge, he said that ORIGINALLY Steve Young was asked, as in; he didn't actually play in the film. So they picked another player, Brett Favre to fill in the part. So your comment doesn't make any sense.

I don't why you are taking the name of some football player so seriously. It is a funny film and doesn't have to get all the facts right, thats why it is a great and very funny film! Lighten up Guys! :-)

Watch the scene where Pat is in the apartment and he tries to ressurect Puffy the dog. About a few minutes before that, Mary talks to Magda about him. Mary says, "He's no Steve Young."
