To be even more specific, the egg is in the part after the trade federation control ship is blown up and all of the droids on naboo stop working. I looked for the whole movie for this number ojn one of the droids and finally found it.

Also, 1138 is the cell block number where Princess Leia was held on the first Death Star.

yeah. And the reason it's her cell block was because of that movie. IF you go to atomfilms.com you can see George's original THX-1138 movie that he did in college(<====i forgot how to spell that, is it right?))

There are many THX-1138. Here are some I know: - The first Lucas-film, THX-1138 - Lucas' company THX - A Guard of Xixor's palace in "Shadows of the Empire" is called Thix eleven thirty-eight. - Leia's cell in Episode IV is in the book 1138 - In the film, when Han smuggles Chewbacca in the cell complex, he says it is a "prisoner transfer from cell block 1138 - In the TV-series "The Pinky and the Brain" there's written THX-1138 at the blackboard (in the intro) - THX-1138 is the number of the stormtrooper in Episode IV that is guarding the Millennium Falcon in the Deathstar and whose clothing is used by Han Solo to disguise and sneak out. There are some more, in books, movies and magazines..

If you look closely, THX-1138 appears in every George Lucas film.

thx1138 is also the name of a certain make of land speeder in planet of twilight, and when Luke sells his speeder, in one version he says "ever since the x-p 38 came out" in another version he says, "x-t 38"

There is also a reference in American Graffiti. THX 138 is on one of the license plates. It might have been the car Harrison Ford drove, I don't remember.

I can't help but notice some people referring to 'the' thx-1138 in the movie, it is possible that it would be referred to in more than one place.

OK people, I thought I could solve this in the Star Wars eggs but I guess I'll have to educate you here too. The book had the com. officer call him by THX-1138. The National Public Radio Dramatization had him as TX-421. And the movie had him as TK-421. In all three Leia was on level 5 Detention Block AA-23 cell# 2187. The book had the transfer of Chewy as being from D.B. TS-138. The movie and the N.P.R.D. had the transfer from D.B. 1138. Now can we get back to The Phantom Menace PLEASE!!! P.S. it did look 1138 on the back of the Battle Droid that Jar Jar knocks over (hehehe).

People, read the earlier posts. Leia's cell number was not 1138, it was 2187 as Boba Fett wrote earlier. This number is from a movie that influenced Lucas early in his college days called "21-87" by Arthur Lipsett. Wired magazine has an article online about Lucas for the new movie and reveals a number of "number" references that Lucas uses throughout his movies and where the insparation/ideas came from.

yes, TK-421 is the stormtrooper guarding the Falcon in ANH. One other thing, let's see here what was it....oh, yeah, um.....BOOKS OF THE ORIGIONAL TRILOGY CANNOT BE USED AS REFERENCES. Although they are sanctioned by Lucas, the movies take precedence and if there are any differences between the books and movies, the movies are assumed correct because Lucas wrote, directed, and produced them. The books were not written by him and so therefore are not SW canon.
